Some Sad News

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our fellow curler and friend, Orie Seychuk.

Orie was a valued member of our club and served on the Board for a number of years. He will be remembered for his humour, friendship and the many contributions he made to our curling community.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Orie’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Information regarding any arrangements will be shared with members if and when they become available.

2025-2026 Season

The Annual General Meeting on May 12 marked the end of 2025/2026 curling season. We welcomed some new curlers this year who blended in well with veteran players to make some pretty good teams. New champions were crowned for the Fall and Winter draws. In the Fall draw the team of Sandi Rowell, Ellen Shelduick, Heather Woldarczyck and Noah Rittenhouse were the champions. In the Winter draw it was Jim DeKlerk, Jason Stewart, Wade Dowling and Jolene Kostick who took home the prize.

In November, we took our game to Grimsby Curling Club for the Lenore Fraser Memorial Bonspiel. We raised close to $400 to donate to the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Hamilton Alzheimer’s Society. Doug Murphy finally found his way back to the podium with his team of Bill Baker, Kathy Meehan and Noah Rittenhouse! Congratulations on the win.

In February the club was back in Grimsby for another Bonspiel. After a great day of curling, Troy Pearce, Sandi Rowell, Blair King and Mary Kent took first place.
The pig collection for November 11 saw a donation of $419 going to the Canadian Legion. The year end total of $1,115 was donated to the Haldimand-Norfolk Alzheimer’s Society.

The 2026-2027 season will start with a Learn to Curl night in October. Hopefully many new curlers will come out and learn about the greatest game on ice.

Haldimand Curling Club Olympics

On Friday night HCC held it’s own Olympic competition. Events requiring, athleticism, cunning and maybe a little bit of silliness. After each draw a winner was declared.

The 6:30 draw gold medal winner was the team of: Keitha Lindsay, David Trevisani, Blair King and Jeff Bunton.
The 8:30 draw gold medal winner was the team of: Carolyn McKeller, Jeremy Rose, Sarah Moody and Orrie Seychuck.
